On 9 August 2019, the Director of Health issued the Code of Practice for Day Procedure Centres (CoP for DPCs) to provide standards for all DPCs licensed under the Private Healthcare Facilities Ordinance*.

  • Any premises that are used, or intended to be used, for carrying out scheduled medical procedures on patients without lodging constitutes a DPC.
  • The CoP sets out the licensing standards in respect of the governance, staffing, facilities and equipment, service delivery, quality and safety of care, infection control, and other matters related to the operation of a DPC.

Effective date: 2 January 2020. Licensing is conditional on compliance.
